Even if you hotswap your problem will be unlocking the old hdd before you can swap it to the new console, now this may or may not work in your case but if you boot up both consoles and while keeping both hdd's powered up (use a molex power splitter if needed) hotswap the old hdd to the new console then shutdown.
  This should then lock to the old hdd to the new console .
