"always On" Motherboards And Others
« on: May 03, 2011, 04:29:00 AM »

i have a pile of motherboards building up from my last year of modding using DuoX2 chips.

i had 7 fails out of 100 or so, and i was wondering if i could get some feedback on the losers.

i have 2 "always on" boards. they turn on as soon as plugged in, and power down at random times while running. i have been informed that this is likely a PIC16 problem. if so, is it safe to just pull the PIC16 chips and replace them?

i also have one motherboard that works fine, and boots flashbios, but fails to flash the chip properly.

in addition, i have a couple of motherboards that work fine booting stock bios, but have no video output booting from the LPC.

all LPC circuit paths have been traced from pad to top of chip with good connectivity.

any feedback is greatly appreciated. thanks so much.
