Depends on whether the HDD is locked or not (PC won't touch it if it is). If you run ConfigMagic on it, that'll tell you, and also give you the option to unlock it if so.

Note that the console may need a correctly locked drive in order to boot (if it's softmodded, then the answer to that question is "yes"). It'd be a good idea to grab a backup of the system EEPROM before removing the drive lock, as you'll need that if you ever wanna lock a new drive for the console.
