I love HDTV!!! I own 3 HDTVs, I bought my first About 5 years ago a Panasonic TRU(1080i 4:3 Aspect ratio). Never got to View HD content on it till about 2 years ago, cause my cable company didn't provide it in my area and i didn't have a view to get Satilite.  I don't recommend Buying a 4:3 aspect ratio HDTV it kinda sucks cause all HD content is in Wide screen, So the Picture is really small. I bought my second Last year a 60" Phillips Wide Screen CRT(1080i) with DVI. I was impressed at first until I started to learn more, and then saw a 1080p DLP at my friends. So I Bought my Third 3 Months ago and I love It. a Sony SXRD LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Sylicon Display)1080p. It upconverts all input signals to 1080p, Picture is outstanding. My personal opinion the best picture I've ever seen.(Shopped at twitter, Best Buy Circuit city). This weekend I'm getting all the new Dish Network HD channels, I can't wait.

I am a proud owner of a 1080p TV with 2 DVI ports one of which supports HDCP. So when I get one of the new HD disc players I can watch it in it's full HD glory :-)

I own a wuxga monitor which *kind of* serves as my HDTV.  Looking into buying a Sceptre 37" 1080p LCD.  (maybe I should wait w/ SED on the horizon...)

Parents have a cheap Sony 30" 480p/1080i crt that does a good job when I get sick of playing stretched xbox1 on my monitor.   tongue.gif

Please MAKE ANOTHER option ---

I own Two HDTV's - one 1080i Max and one 720 Max.

Or just: I own two HDTV's and can view 720P and 1080i without upscaling or downscaling.

A lot of us, like me, have more than one HDTV. One of mine is 1080i native, the other 720P native.

I'm in the same boat.

have you compare hows the picture quality when 720p and 1080i? is there any difference?

Yes, there is an improvement.  The picture is very crisp, but it made UnleashX run too slow, so I stick with 720p.

I'll do more testing when I get my 360 tomorrow!

I have a Hitachi 51F710A. Has HDMI/DVI in/out, optical DD5.1 audio out, supports 1080i and 540p. Looks great to me, but I'm also using a Moto 6412 DVR with Comcast cable, and for some reason my analog channels look like A$$. I'm thinking Comcast is either compressing the analog stuff, or the upconverting in this set isn't what it should be.

The Xbox and the 360 look awesome on it, though. Haven't had it professionally calibrated yet, but I have thrown Video Essentials at it a couple of times.

I got a 50inch Samsung and it kicks ass with the xbox 360. And even with all 50 inches of goodness, I still can't snipe worth a damn in COD2. Oh well, I'll just stick to the shotgun...LOL

Well I don't have a HDTV and don't plan on getting one.

I recently bought a HD compatible projector, and run my 360 through VGA cables (so no HDTV, but max 360 resolution).  I also have a MONSTER optical digital cable for my surround sound so its pretty sweet.

I was weighing up the pro's and con's with the HDTV, but I figured, for the money, I would prefer a screen twice the size, for half the price.  Its LCD anyway, so its all good.

I'm sure a HDTV will be the way to go in the future when the price comes down, but for just now, I don't think a good projector can be beaten on the basis of price / screen size....

I said I had a 1080i HDTV (Projection), but thats not entirely accurate, because its my parents tv, and its at my house, not at my dorm.  Of course I guess I don't really own a tv at all since the 24" SDTV in my room was purchased by my roommate.

People should double check the specs of their HDTVs.  There are only two or three TVs on the market that acctualy display in 1080 (i or p).  Most, like mine are 1080 compatible (can accept a 1080 signal), but only display in 780p.  The fact that most people claim to have 1080 tells me that a lot of people have been fooled.

*Sigh* I tried to talk the wife into letting my buy a 21" CRT, and a little TV Stuff to Computer Stuff converter-in-a-box, AND a set of speakers (All this at a little over $200), but she wouldn't go for it. It was "Too ugly" in her opinion. So we went with just a 20" flat screen CRT (or what ever it's called: The normal TV's that don't have a rounded screen - it's supposed to be sharper or something) with an S-Video in for $110. What a bloody waste. Next time, I'm... Oh, who am I kidding? I'm too addicted to sleeping in the bed as opposed to the dog house to stand up to her.
