Kernel 8955 And No Drive Key - Am I Screwed?

(1/2) > >>

spudgunblunder:
I have a Xenon with Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943A MS28 which had been updated on LIVE to Kernel 8955.

I connected SATA cable between MS28 and PC on board SATA (Intel ICH5).

Powered on Xbox and booted PC.

Loaded JungleFlasher v0.1.67 Beta once PortIO32 was installed manually.

Clicked "MTK Flash 32" Tab

Selected I/O port so that the Toshiba drive showed.

Clicked "Sammy Unlock"

Drive went successfully into Vender Mode.

Clicked "Read" button and successfully read Banks 0, 1, 2 and 3.

Saved BIN file but the Drive key showed as all zeros.

I tried opening the Bin file under the "Firmware Tool" tab and the drive key is all zeros.

Closed down PC and unplugged Xbox. Tried a couple of games in the xbox and it says "Please insert into xbox 360".

Tried to read the firmware using Xtreme Boot Maker, DosFlash, MTKFlash and iPrep etc. None would put the drive into vender mode. iPrep gave status code 0x51.

I then got a VIA chip SATA PCI card from ebay. Tried Jungle flash. Same result. Tried Xteme Boot Maker which read the firmware successfully but the key was still zeros when opened with Keychecker, Doskey and Jungleflasher.

Tried iPrep which said "No Drive Key found".

I can't see how this has happened as I hadn't got to the stage of flashing the drive. I've just tried to read it.

Could this be something to do with the new LIVE updates? or is it just me pressing the wrong button?
Live doesn't issue DVD drive FW updates does it?

Is there any way to rescue the drive key from the motherboard with a Kernel 8955 or is it still a max of 7371?

Is there anything worth trying like flashing with the original FW even though Jungleflasher shows the key as zeros.

Thanks.

(Can't find the smiley to show that I feel like I'm running round waving my arms on fire so this will have to do   (IMG:http://209.85.62.26/12250/21/emo/Suicide.gif))

RRODXbox:
Send me your samsung original firmware dump and I can recover your DVD key. upload it to Megaupload or something then PM it to me.

I dont fully know why this happens but it has something to do with sammy unlock.

spudgunblunder:
Thanks for that but still no joy. The drive flashed fine and read back the same drive key but will not play games.

What did you do?

RRODXbox:
Hmm strange as ive done it before and it worked fine, You need to open the sam-ofw with a hexeditor and look at the offset where the key is stored, as its stored in the FW many times over its usually there.

Key is usually at 40EC so I grabbed it in hexeditor loaded the dump in JF then inserted the key in it and saved it.

Ill have another look for you.

RRODXbox:
Ok, so I think I accidently shifted one block in the Hexeditor, Ill PM you try two.
