Psp Help - N00b
« on: February 09, 2006, 10:33:00 PM »

I realise there is a possibilty i will get flamed for beenin a n00b, but hey not much i can do bout that.
anyway, my mate has given me his psp becuz he hasnt had much success with gettin it to do what he wants it to do. im not psp savvy at all, so i may take a while to get the hang of things. my mate has upgraded it to a 2.60 - and the best version is 1.50 yes? wat ways are there to overcome the 2.60 version so i can run homebrew software?
also, wen i connect the psp to the pc, and go into usb connection on the psp i get an error on my pc saying

QUOTE
one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunction, and windows does not recognize it.

i didnt realise i needed a driver to connect the psp to the computer?!
Edit: ill save myself my first flaming. really gotta learn to look a little harder http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484434

thanks for taking the time to read this (and hopefully help me out a bit)

Check out Fanjita and Dietlews eLoader for Firmware 2.00+. In order to run homebrew on your PSP you'll need to buy the GTA game, then put a hacked savegame ont othe memorystick and load it, then you'll be able to run some of the homebrew apps, not all apps are supported. Hehe i don't even own a PSP yet but i'm getting one tomorrow.

for the eLoader go to: http://www.pspupdates.com

Game UMDs are region free, however movies are region locked.

However you can play a Japanese UMD movie on a European PSP and vice versa. American Movie UMDs only work on american PSPs.

If you had a 1.5 you could fake the Region detection with UMD emulator.

Btw, this is a useful read: Ultimate Newbie Guide

Check out the news and forums on http://www.pspupdates.com too, PSPupdates= best psp blog/forums.

Edit: 2.01+ homebrew section, might be useful if you're interested in homebrew on your 2.6 psp: http://forums.qj.net/forumdisplay.php?f=205
