Increase Speed Of Scan Folder/driver ?
« on: November 15, 2004, 09:29:00 AM »

Hi,
Currently , i m using THC dash ( first version ).
If I m right, the auto scan for "feed" the game list is done with a MS dash command.
And, I dont think this command is the faster of the world ( compare to evox).
Because, the more I have "subfolder" ,the  more time is need to start THC dash.

So perhaps you can add some really fast functions to scan and feed all menu =)
Or perhaps I just have to defrag my HD ^^.

what do you think ?

Sbk
ps : sorry for my poor english, I hope I m clear enough !!

tips :
a good way to defrag your hd :
simply transfere all your data from your box, to your pc
format your xbox ( evox do it in one second )
and copy back your files, from pc to xbox.

any way, thx for your reply !

That's called formatting, not defragging, there's a difference ;)

well, when you reformat a computer and turn it on, the hdd isnt fragmented at all so I think reformatting does defrag too.

I can't imagine wanting to format my 250gb every so often just to get a decent defragmentation though. It's too time consuming trying to transfer over that much data.  Yea, a formatted hdd is as you said, but the whole idea is not to have to format to gain a defragmentation :(

NOBODY is going to commit to a defragger. Avalaunch was going to do it but they where worried theyd fuck up everyones HDDs. There is a thread about defragmentation on the x-s forums but all they do is go around in circles. The best thing you should do is keep ur mouth closed cos all its gonna invite is confusing and flaming.
