I keep hearing question after question on how to play. it's really VERY simple.

HOW TO SIGN UP

go to to ourcolony.net
(direct link: http://www.ourcolony.net )

Enter the word play into the text box on the lower right.

Now you're in the lounge where you can see the leader board and have some options at the top.

Select Join Existing Colony
(direct link: http://www.ourcolony.net/teampass/ )

Enter the Password for the X-Scene colony: 13897122

This will take you to the registration page
(no direct link available)

Here you enter your username password and location. At the very bottom it asks for a Security code. Above the security code is an image with a number in it. This is the number you enter into the security code box. If it says the number is invalid then you need to clear your Internet cache because your browser is not loading the proper version of the image.

Once you're registered it will take you to the X-Scene Team page

Here you can see our logo and points on the left and our position on the leader board on the right. In the center we receive challenges.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The security on ourcolony is very weak and allows for ANYONE to take ownership of ANY team and change the logo or delete members. It's safe to assume that your account will be deleted quite frequently. If you attempt to log in to the team page and your username/password does not work then you must sign up again. I know it's a pain in the ass but it's all part of the game.

HOW TO PLAY
One way to help us gain points is to get more members, so if you've registered you've already started playing and helping the team. If you're account was deleted and you re-registered we get point again.

I should note that as of this point there is no specific way to loose points aside from cheating. Some teams created scripts to generate thousands of fake members. Those points were later removed. So really there is no way to loose actual earned points.

Once you're registered you can help us with the challenges. on the team page (http://www.ourcolony.net/team) there are challenges that appear in the center every so often. We get 10 points for answering correctly and an extra 100 points for answering first. You can guess the answer as many times as you'd like it will not hurt the team. Some people suggest you keep the solution to yourself so that other teams will not solve it by seeing your answer. I think it's a good idea to hold on to it for at least a little while until another team or two solves it. Definitely TRY what you think is the answer before posting somewhere what you think it could be.

The Third way to help the team is to make suggestions for challenges.
Go to the main page ( http://www.ourcolony.net ) and enter "create" into the text box. This will take you to the challenge submission form.

It is very rare that a challenge will be chosen but if it is the point pay off is HUGE. Again you can make as many submission as you want, so make as many as you can think of. DO NOT post your challenge here especially DO NOT post the solution. We don't want other teams getting extra time to figure it out before it is potentially chosen. If your challenge appears then quietly answer it and THEN take bragging rights for it. Obviously if you answered it right off you knew what it was before it was posted.

There were other ways to gain points but they have since been removed from the site. If they re-appear I'll post about them In this space.

The site will not let me register. Keps telling me i have put in an invalid number, even after i clean out the cache. Any suggestions?? <

are you using IE or some other web browser. I've heard that non IE browsers have problems working properly on the site, one of the problems being incorrect security registration code.

If you ARE using IE then try holding shift and clicking refresh to force a full refresh of the page.

If it still doesn't work  

I've never used Firefox or any other browser other than IE for the site and I've never run into any registration problems. <

Actually after I posted I realized my account was again deleted and it is not working for me either. I'd wait an try again tomorrow or something. you can still view the team page and it's not like there is a new challenge there that needs to be answered so it's pretty useless to be registered now anyway.

Challenges seem to appear daily but  there really is no pattern. some times we've had two challenges in a day some times we've gone days without any challanges... <
