Linux And Hitachi?
« on: November 09, 2007, 02:01:00 PM »

Hey, I've been pondering this for awhile.

I know talking about DRM and copying of software is very taboo, but I want to know about this for proof of concept.

I know that wii games are able to be read in an certain model set of LG drive on a PC. The Hitachi is branded with LG on the xbox 360. Could a *nix OS on a 360 read, attempt to create a legal duplicate of Wii games?

I dont think so, because AFAIK there are only 3 LG drives that will rip wii games.

One of them is the LG 8164 and i forgot what the other 2 are...

as stated in the other forums.. there are only 3 drives that actually dump the raw form of the disks, and they accomplish that thorough debugging options in the LG firmware, because the 360 firmware is always on the move, I was wondering if anyone has attempted it yet, or if it can be channeled towards accomplishing such.

Why would you want to do this anyway.....You would have to take your 360 apart and hook your drive up to the computer everytime you wanted to rip a game even if it was possible  huh.gif

Do you have a hackable kernal?

Too me that sounds like it would be way to much work just to rip a wii game. How would burn the game once you happen to rip it from the 360 if you ever did.

If i was you just buy one of those LG drives and put it in your computer....They are only like $25
