Music Video Script Not Working
« on: February 16, 2006, 07:08:00 PM »

Hi all,

I have installed the lastest version of XBMC 02/06, anyway I'm having trouble with the music video script every other scrip works except the music video script (the one that load files from launch.com) Symptoms:

Xbmc loads lunch.com but when I select a video and press A to load it, a popup say getting MEDIA URL comes up, Than another one shortly after saying getting PLAYLIST URL then finally one saying getting MMS URL
After all this is just take me back to the video selection video.

I have tired other scripts and I have tried other versions of XBMC, what could it be???

Please help

Thanks in advance

I have the same problem.  My guess is that launch.com changed their layout again.  We need a new version of launch script.  xbmc script installer's not working either, the site's down. sad.gif

Looks like an issue with the latest XBMC build.  I was using an old 12-25 build and it was working.  Then I updated to the 2-12 build and it doesn't work, the script causes XBMC to freeze (it doesn't get stuck on a loading screen, but freezes).

There has been an issue with the Launchcast scripts for quite some time now, if you have a look through the forums using Google search you'll see it comes up alot.

It's mainly due to Yahoo changing the layout of their site more frequently than the scripters can keep up.
Also, if you give the XBOX about 90 seconds, it un-freezes when it realises it's getting nothing back.

What's strange is that odd videos every now and then do work.

I would suggest some alternate scripts, but xmbcscripts.com is down and nobody can contact the site owner/admin sad.gif

I have a similar problem with the latest version of pimped XBMC. Unfortunately, it extends beyond just the music videos.  The shoutcast music does that, so does gamespot, the movie trailers and so on and so on.  Sooo do they all not work, or is it something goofy with my settings?!

I asked a guy to check his last night and his worked.  Mine still doesnt.

Another thing to double check is your cache sizes (in config)

If they're too high, it could be causing you grief

I have had periodic problems with this script.  There are two general things you can do to get things to work.

1) you can go into the configure.xml file and lower the stream rate to 300.  The resolution will not be as good but...

2) Lower your cache setting.  I'd start by cutting the value and half and if that doesn't work cutting it in half again.

Right now I'm running the latest build and my launchbrowser is working fine.  I have the stream set to 300 and my cache is 1/2 the orginal value

For whatever its wirth I have also noticed that if you put the videos in a playlist and then use the play all feature they seem to work much better.

Many thanks
