Windows And Plexi
« on: March 10, 2006, 09:22:00 AM »

Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial on how to make nice clean window cuts and then install flush mounted plexi windows.
There was not really anything like this in the sticky.

Thanks.

u dont need a tut its common sense.

but to get good cuts MEASURE up what u want to cut to make sure its all good. gut a good bit from the edge on the initial cut then work you way in to a few mm from the line, then file or sand until perfection...just make sure you TAKE YOUR TIME rushed jobs always looks crap.

about flush mounting u just need to cut a ledge on the plexi or the case ive heard a good way of doing this is a router. ive never done it i dont think its worth it.

Well, how did you do your window. Just stick some plexi on the case behind the cut?

Cut your window then cut some plexi a little bigger than the window and superglue it in.

as far as FLUSH mounting a window, get a peice of paper and tape it over your window, then lihtly rub a pencil over it till you get the outline of the window, then cut it out and mark it on your plexi, next cut your plexi how you normaly would cut it but cut it about 5mm OUTSIDE the outline you just marked!, then take your time and sand it down till it fits snugg, you shouldnt need any glue or a lip, on the 360's i heat the plexi with a heat gun and curve it with the case, but it will flex just fine without heating it.
