We thought it would be appropriate to clear up any confusion about the current status of homebrew media playback on the xbox 360. The previous news with concept players showcased have nothing to do with the developer of emerald or emerald itself. We tried to work together but parted ways when the team decided to work with Team Fsd to integrate the media player into Freestyle dash.

We have achieved full speed 720p mkv/h264 playback on single threaded decode using single threaded libs, but, we took that as far as we could, so We started a completely new project and ported the latest ffmpeg multithreaded snapshot from scratch. This is to ensure we're working from the latest release, we understand all the code because we made
the changes ourselves, and have all files included to provide the best functionality and support for all muxers/demuxers/encoders/decoders etc. As far as we know, the emerald package does not compile or work for jtags, and is missing a large percentage of files.

There is still a lot to do and we don't want to release an unfinished product, but we wanted to remind people that there are people still working hard on this, as a team, to get a proper working player out that does full 1080p soon.

This is great news!  I would love to be able to play lots of video formats on my JTAG and never see the annoying file format error message again

YesYESYES! Not that GotSent isn't good, it's just better not  to have to use it.
Will there be SMB support? Like the original player, streaming from computers? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You know you have become infamous for being "the media player guy" right lol ... I know you mean well it's just funny, everyone knows who hfmls is because he wants a media player.
You happy it's finally here for you?
