360 Modification USB Drive v1.6 Revision 4
« Reply #15 on: August 31, 2009, 01:40:00 PM »

This tool is great.  Just updated my Benq (been running 1.41 for a long time).  Only problem I had was a "brain fart" that turned this 20 minute easy process into a 4 hour ordeal.

In case anyone cares, I used the same PC I used to flash 1.41 with onboard Nforce4 chipset.  For whatever reason, my machine kept locking up in DOS.  After banging my head against the wall for 3.5 hours, I finally went to BIOS and disabled USB Keyboard/Mouse support.

After that, worked like a charm.

Thanks a lot for the update smile.gif I love the custom option as one can avoid the crappy lite on freeze, simply get ya key & files in jungle flasher, pop the file into custom folder boot up the usb stick and off ya go,is their any way you can add lite on v1 probe support then one would not even need jf then........

Thanks for this, great tool for flashing. I've done a couple of Benq drives with it without a problem.

Got a question for more experienced (than me) modders. I want to use this tool to flash an old dieing samsung drive but want to use a lower speed firmware.

I'm thinking of ixtreme 1.4 (5x) firmware and patching any wave 3 games. If I use the custom folder in this tool do I need to create the firmware using my orig.bin or can i just put the standard firware file in the custom folder, basically will 360USB make the firmware like it does with the 1.6 firmware??

Is this the best firmware to use btw? Not bothered about live at all just wanna be able to play the games.

Thanks for any help.

Use Xtreme 5.2 / 5.3 D

Saves patching games.

Yes, but what is the error message that should be ABOVE the 'Firmware validation failed' message?

Damn that sucks... I had the same problem with my 32" Samsung LCD TV when I was using a VGA cable... but after switching to a DVI-HDMI cable all was well. smile.gif

My guess is that you are experiencing the 'cant get inquiry data' error (which is being cut off by your TV) this error means that the VT6421 card is not detecting the Lite-On drive, which is causing the 'firmware validation failure' error. Try using your onboard SATA ports instead, they might work better for you. I have seen some VT6421 cards that don't detect the Lite-On drives very well.

Question - are you connecting the SATA cable first, then the POWER cable afterwards? If you connect POWER first that might be what's causing your problem... sad.gif

to get the drive ready before i start the dumping, i have both sata(connected to via) and power connected, turn on my 360 by opening the drive unplug the power, close drive half way, plug power back in and press esq to the dumping part then the error

Thanks for the answer then i guess i will go order one now.

You can just make one.  I just piggybacked onto the one of the wires and soldered it to a safety pin.  Done about a dozen liteON drives without a problem.

Thanks for that will look in to it. Will I need to prepare the firmware before putting in the custom folder?

Cheers
