When you said to have the video cable plugged in do you mean in the TV as well?

Hi.
I know this has been asked before, but i didn't see an answer: when the prompts tell me to conncet/disconnect the power cable from the drive, do i have to disconnect them physically even if i am using a ck3 lite, or is it enough to switch the power off on the ck3?
The same goes for the serial cable(not serial ata), do i have to connect/disconnect that from the ck3 when it prompts me?
Sorry for the noob questions, i just want to be absolutely sure of the steps.(I have a Lite-On drive)

Just use the switch when asked to power down the drive
as for the rs232 I'm not sure

You have to plug the video cable into the back of the 360. It doesn't have to be plugged into a TV. If you don't do that, the 360 starts to error (or something similar).

and using the 360 to power the drive is NOT a good idea at all!

hello,
i have a few possibly dumb questions if someone could answer them. lil info first: i have an ide hdd, a generic pci sata card, via 6421a chipset.
in device manager it says via raid controller - 3249
for my I/O range it say 28D0 - 28DF  28C0 - 28CF  28B0 - 28BF  28A0 - 28AF  2880 - 289F  2400 - 24FF
Everything in bold i have put into frosty's disc just like he says and i tried each one separately. none of the ports seem to work.  i went into the bios to turn off raid (saw in another post to shut it off) but never found the option. all cables are plugged in (video, power, sata, ect.) what am i doing wrong?? i cant get past backing up my fw. i am thoroughly confused any help is greatly appreciated.

How are you connecting the drive to your pc?  Are you using the 360 to power the drive or a ck3?  The first port on your sata card (the one closest to the back of your pc) 'should' be the first io port.. 28d0 in your case.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

sata cable connected to the drive, drive is still connected to the box cause i am powering it by the 360 power supply. yeah i know not the best but others have made it work. the sata is plugged into the port closest to the front of the case. i figured the port is 28D0 but i have tried them all.

if you DONT have a video cable in, the 360 will power off, which isnt such a good idea if you are using it to power the drive.  biggrin.gif

Other than that, there is no reason why you shoulndt use the 360 to power the drive, lots of people do it.

the only thing easier than this was using the old slayer's disc. i did use older drivers to make it work. to anyone that maybe have the same or similar problems.
my setup:
xp pro sp3, generic via 6421a card from computer shop in town, 5.20 drivers, benq drive, 360 power supply and frosty's sweet disc. video cables were plugged in too.

Yeah i have been wondering about that, i cannot afford an CK3 kit for my benQ, So what is the risk of damaging something if i use the 360's power, will it brick and my 360 is screwed?

Are the chances high or low something will happen if i use my 360 for power?
