Recover Data From Dead Hd?
« on: April 02, 2008, 05:07:00 PM »

Sorry if this is a noob question.

I searched and found the following things:

1) I am going to get the xecuter 360 HDD kit, since I do not want to void my warranty by opening the case.

2) I downloaded xplorer360 beta 6

My 20gb drive will not be detected by the 360 anymore.  The problem happened after the 5th time I received it back from repair. The box shows no error codes but when I go to the memory tag it says " no storage device detected".  I tried a different HD on the same xbox and it works.  So I guess it is the HDD.

Now I would like to recover the data from the bad drive.  I plan to hook it up to my PC, and run xplorer on it. Before I send the money on the xecuter dongle I have a question I hope someone can answer.  Do you think I will be able to copy data from the undectable HD to a good HD that I reformatted in the 360?  Both are 20G drives.  Or is this not possible?  Is there another way that someone can point me to?

Thanks,

I would like to try to recover saved games I had before trashing the drive.  The xbox support nimrod told me I could revor all xbox live stuff, I hope that is true.
