X360FExT Xbox / Xbox360 File Extraction Tool v1.0-- Posted by XanTium on December 15 01:17 EST
They guys over at adr-uk.net released a new tool that can extract images in the Xbox and Xbox360 DVD filesystem. It's not a GUI for the PI Game Dump Extractor, they made their own 'backend' for it and also added support for images in the original Xbox format:

Quote

X360FExT (XBOX / XBOX360 File Extraction Tool) is a simple tool designed to help users that wish to open XBOX and XBOX360 images to extract specific files or all files.
As you can see from the screen shot, the tool has opened a PI XBOX360 image without any problems and fully extracts a 5.78 Gig image in 9 mins 43 seconds using a P3 500MhZ, 384 MB RAM running WINXP O/S.

The tool is also backwards compatible for XBOX1 users which is probably more useful since there's not much you could do with a XBOX360 image unless perhaps you wanted to do some reverse engineering, naughty, naughty!!
Not bad going for a single 17KB Windows program, a must for anyone who can not stand command line programs. Oh, and it is also quicker than the xtract360.exe that PI released. ;)

Hi, good tool, good news but not new news... I release a tool that supports graphically those XBOX and XBOX 360 images a week ago...

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=469362

I don't know what it takes to get the moderator's attention to my utility...?

the difference is this is not simply a GUI written for the PI tool. This is a different tool all together. The mods did take notice on the front page a couple of days ago about the different GUIs the users had created. I commend your work as some people fear command like the plague, but this tool is a different tool all together.

Ok, maybe the GUI word is bad implemented on my work...  could you check my tool...

it does not requiere the PI extractor exe... is is a self contained tool capable of reading the images of XBOX and XBOX 360.  When I tell PI Image extractor tool I was trying to say that can reads the PI releases. It also can read normal XBOX 1 iso images...

Old Xbox ISO tools should be able to extract them just fine as well.  See this post.  Qwix was released ages ago and reads them just fine if they have a .iso file extension.

I correct my statement earlier carranzafp. I thought you had just made a GUI for the PI tool. I do once again commend your work and hope people like you continue working on different tools and whatnot. It is however important to point out that new tools are not necessary. Just like the same techniques, many of you did not know about, work for dumping the games, the same tools can work to extract the images. Qwix for example.

Well. True enough. But even if we have the ISO images, getting them onto a D/L DVD is still up in the air. Backing up Xbox DVD9 games was so problematic that they had to be converted down to DVD5. I wonder how we will get around that this time. I don't think these games can feasably shrunk to DVD5.

I;m also a little confused here. How are they getting the images from the 360 DVD's?

just know that they're getting them, and it's nothing new they discovered over the original xbox games. They don't need a modded xbox and they never did. Just enjoy that someone is doing it and it won't matter how because no matter how many times I've said it this week, people still don't get it or are in denial as to the way it is done.
