Got My 360 & Wmconnect Working (on Wifi)
« on: December 04, 2005, 01:46:00 PM »

Firstly, thanks to all for the help i got to set it up from this forum.

my setup:

Linksys WRT54G v2 wireless router (updated firmware)
XBOX wireless adapter.
Windows XP ser.p 2

NO FIREWALL  (for now...)

Firstly i disabled my firewall within the router settings.
I also dissabled & unticked all options within the secuirity tab on router settings.

Setup a Static DNS on xbox 360
Setup a Static IP on Desktop
Automatic (DHCP) IP on Xbox 360

I found if I used a static IP on the 360 - my NAY settings came back as Strict - which would not work with Live.

When I set the IP to auto - NAT is open and live works fine.

What was throwing my was, on the 360 setting page, you can test your live  & media PC connection.
Live connection always came back ok, but my media connection always failed.

I insdtalled Windows Media Conenct via the xbxo site, setup my shares, picked up xbox ok - file sharing popup arppeared ans started.

this is copied from DonkeyBelivers thread (thanks):

Hit Start

Then run

Then type "services.msc" without the quotes, hit enter.

Find the following services and turn them all on...
HTTP SSL
Universal Plug and Play Device Host
SSDP Discovery Service

Then start the Windows Media Connect Service.

at this stage, i went back to my 360, navigated to the media tab, signed in my profile, browsed for media on PC`s - my desktop & laptop (installed WMC on both) appeardd on the screen..

Streaming pictures & audio no problem.

Hope this helps!
