I think most DVD +R DL are compatible for 2.4x burn.

Image Burner or whatever software you use should tell you all the available burn speeds in the status box.

The important thing about Flashing a Dvd Burner is getting just a little more space to the disc.  8.5 gb doesn't completely cover the bulk of the new games.

You need 8.7 GB.  The firmware flash to the burner enables that.

You could still burn a XGD3 game at a capacity of 8.5 GB  ... but something will be lost.  For 100% - you need 8.7 gb
