Extract Game Data Using Xfer Cable From 360's Hdd?
« on: June 09, 2013, 01:05:00 PM »

I have an unmodified 360 and I have some of the Rock Band games.  If I install the games to the hard drive, disconnect the HDD from the 360 and then use a transfer cable connected to a PC with the typical Windows-based 360 data explorer tools, can I get to the game's data so that I can get to things like the multi-track audio files?

This was my process:

- Install game to hard drive
- Disconnect hard drive from 360 and connect the HDD to PC with transfer cable
- Use Party Buffalo explorer to browse HDD, locate and extract installed game
* Installed games are broken into multiple parts
- Use god2iso to convert the installed game to an ISO file
- Use isoextract (xbox 360) to extract the contents of the ISO
- Use Arktool v7.0 to convert the archived audio files into usable multi-track audio files

I used this process with Rock Band 1 and 2.  I extracted some Guitar Hero World Tour stuff but the decryption process is a little more involved and most of those songs are already in Rock Band so I haven't bothered.  The file encryption changed sometime after RB2 was released so I'm not sure if the process works with RB3.  The creator of Arktool was threatened with legal action and forced to stop development on the application.
