Playing Old 360 Backups

Hello,

Does anyone know which ' if any " firmwares will allow you to play old and new 360 backups. Quite a few of the older ones just give the error with the white screen saying insert into a 360 console. Or is this a upcoming feature in a newer firmware.

Any help would be appreciated
