First Update for Backwards Compatibility Available-- Posted by XanTium on November 24 01:21 EST
Xbox.com has been updated with info on how to get the latest emulation drivers on your Xbox 360. The first update, branded "November 2005", allows to play all the original Xbox games on the list Microsoft released 2 weeks ago.
There are 3 ways to get this update:
* Update through Xbox Live.
* Burn a DVD or CD.
* Order a disc by mail from Xbox.com (available early December).

The 2nd option could certainly be interesting to learn more about the system. You can download the file here[xbox.com].
The zip-file contains one 2.5MB .xex file (which will give BC-support for over 200 games!), that's an Xbox 360 executable (like .xbe for the original Xbox). Once burned on CD-R or DVD+-R you'll be able to run the update on your 360 from the CD/DVD.

I dont have an xbox 360 to try this damn it!!!!!!

But for shits and giggles, i took my 512mb usb drive and put a pile of music in different formats on to it... Guess what happens when you plug this usb drive into the 360 when it is pc formatted and has other crap on it besides music...

well it plays the music just fine from the 512mb usb drive...

and can see the other files and folders on my usb drive but cannot do much with the files that are not media...

I wonder if some one could put this .xex file on there usb drive and figure out if you can launch it from there and get the same result as if you were to burn the thing to a disk...

It would be interesting to see if m$ has made it un-able to execute files from only the dvd drive or if the made it able to launch these .xex files from a usb device...

I tried the media thing with a freinds core system... Im guessing that both types of 360's have the same hardware (-the hdd, controller,bla,bla) and have the same dash...

reply to this asap please if anyone has a comment on this, im very courious...
