Hacked Xbox1 Backwards Compatibility v5829 Leaked
Posted by XanTium | March 16 00:16 EST | News Category: Xbox360

A hacked version of the Xbox1 Backwards Compatibility v5829 (November 2007) has been leaked yesterday. It wasn't supposed to be out (yet), but as it's all over the internet now I guess we could just mention it too. Was originally made for devkits, but should work just fine on jtagged homebrew 360s too:
Quote

I've attempted to remove any limits on the emulator, although i left in game ratings checks in case you dont want your little ones to play violent games :)

This can be toggled in the dashboard anyway. The following hacks were done to the emulator:
   * Xbe signature checks removed (lets you run unsigned code)
   * Xbe section hash checks removed (lets u run hacked xbes)
   * Game region checks removed (region free baby!)
   * Game media checks removed (play games from your hard drive)
   * Debug/Devkit xbes supported (run your own xbox1 code)
   * Attempt to play unsupported games (doesn't mean it will work hehe)

To install this, copy the Compatibilty folder to your devkits Y drive.
You may want to remove any existing files, although this should overwrite all files.

Note: it will boot (some) Xbox1 homebrew as well, however don't expect everything to work perfectly. And no ... XBMC will not run fully on it (don't expect video playback etc).

Official Site: n/a, leaked
Download: n/a (contains MS copyrighted code)

Oh...but I sure do hope someone tries! (A major task, I'm sure. And their so tied up on the the non-Xbox versions, I doubt it'll happen) But just that fact that it loads, that's sweet!

If it'd work at least as good as it does on Xbox1 I'd be thrilled!

Would love to retire the Xbox1.

This is surprising news. I'll be very interested to find out which games run (and to what degree) that aren't on the official list (like Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath).

It's ran all the games i've thrown at it so far.  Most homebrew apps didn't run though, or ran with problems, that I expected.

So far I've run these perfectly fine on my JTAG unit:

Fusion Frenzy NTSC
Halo 2 NTSC
Halo 1 NTSC
Halo 2 Killtrocity Modded Map discs (1 and 2)
Burnout 3: Takedown NTSC
The Simpson's Road Rage NTSC
Rallisport Challenge 2 NTSC
Jet Set Radio Future NTSC
Sega GT 2002 NTSC
Crimson Skies NTSC
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic NTSC

Latest T3CH XBMC Build, Quake3, and Windows ce.net (lol) did not load, or caused a hardlock, that's the only homebrew i've tried so far.

Why do i get prompt for a system update when i launch my xbox1 game (in this case project gotham 2) i have xbox live sign in disabled on my console and it's actually connected and starts downloading the update. hmm ? will that update mess up my jtag system?

quick edit- i had to configure the network options in the 360 settings. just make a fake gateway number and it can't connect. just thought you all should know! =)

I installed the files but my games wont run. I load the files onto my flash drive and launch the xbe with XeXmenu and it tells me the game could not start. I also tried burning it to a disk and the same thing happened. The only way I could get it to work was by creating a god file and using god2xb1. Anyone know why this is?

I had converted a few games the other day which ran fine - without xbox1 hacks.

I tried wallace & gromit project zoo and it said it was unsuported & wouldn't run, however after applying this hack the game now works fine, albeit a few sound glitches but the gameplay is 100%.

Thanks to the guys who released this one.

Otogi 1 and 2 works perfectly!

So does The Suffering 1, didnt test 2. So does Burnout Revenge, Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, MK Deadly Alliance, Obscure, Tenchu Return from Darkness.

They all work perfectly.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath doesnt work

Mame360 is great, I'm glad its out there, but there are a few isues with the emu. Some games don't work, which are working in newer versions (golden axe return of Death Addar is one), the vysnc issue sucks. It would be nice to have a filter there too.
