The quick & dirty guide to get a Unix Shell on your 360, using the MCE mod.
What you need?
Xbox 360 networked to MCE 2005
Xbox Controller/Remote
1) First make sure your xbox is working correctly with MCE 2005. Try viewing pictures/videos as a test. Also make sure the MCE 2005 computer is connected to the internet.
2) Download and install java onto your MCE computer.
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp3) From your MCE computer, go here and create a free unix shell account. Make sure you understand their terms & conditions.

5) Call the file, something like Ex. NetBSD Unix Shell.mcl. Save the file in, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs
6) Launch Media Center on your 360. Go to More Programs select NetBSD Unix Shell. Wait tell it loads, then a warning box will appear. Using your remote press the OK button. Now Switch to your controller. Accept all options by pressing the A button. When its asks for a username/password, press Y for a keyboard. Input your information, then press A to accept.
7) Enjoy being logged into a remote NetBSD Unix Shell. Use Y, to input your commands. (IMG:

If I made any mistakes post, this is a quick & dirty guide anyway. This works thanks to java based applications. It would be cool to see a full blown linux desktop using something like this,
