as I have heard so far yes but then again why would you want to if you have an original copy(unless its scratched) but as anyone here will tell you they can gurantee that backups will work on live for now but they can't guarantee that's how it will be 10s from now and so on lol biggrin.gif

He hit the nail on the head.

So... no one that we know of has been banned for playing backups or using modified firmware.  However, the original Xbox 360 Firmware Hacker, The Specialist, said that it was VERY easy for MS to detect backups/modded firmware.
So, eventually, it is likely that MS will drop the hammer on people using modded firmware and playing backups.  We're not sure IF or WHEN they will... but there is a pretty good chance they will.  Now, WHAT they will do, we're not sure.  Ban you from Live?  Ban you from playing on Live, but still let you get to the marketplace?
NO ONE knows.

I'll predict the "when".  Either right before, or right after, they drop Halo3.  Gotta figure there are those so obsessed with Halo that they are waiting till it comes out to buy a 360, and those that even if they already have one, if they get blocked from playing on live with the modded stuff, they'd buy a "live only" box.

If I'm playing LIVE an original game with a modded firmware drive,
then they will ban me ?

Im pretty sure they detect the Hardware if its original or hacked not the software. Just like original xbox. When they want to, they'll do it

i have been playing live with my modded 360 but i have yet to play any backups because i cant find a bitsetting program for I/O Magic Dvd drive.... : (  but so  far no ban : )    I will probably get a spare drive to switch between hacked and non hacked...  Hacked= no live then i switch to original for live.  Hopefully I havent been detected yet.
