Faq - How Does The New Xbox Live Work?
« on: June 01, 2005, 09:49:00 AM »

The new XBOX LIVE has two levels of subscribers: Silver and Gold.  Gold is a paid subscription, much like the current XBOX LIVE, that gets all the features and benefits that XBOX LIVE has to offer.  Silver, on the other hand, is a free subscription available to all XBOX 360 owners.  Silver will not have all the benefits of Gold - mostly the fact that Silver players can only play in multiplayer online matches on selected weekends which are speculated to be 'a few times a month'.  Current XBOX LIVE subscribers' subscriptions will carry over to XBOX LIVE Gold on the launch day of the 360.  Every XBOX 360 will come with one free month of the Gold service.

Followup:  The price and subscription terms for Gold have not been officially determined yet, however, because of the "rollover" that MS is doing, most people speculate it to have the same price as the current Live.

the xbox supports more than 16 players now. The main reason whay games only have a max of 16 is lag. Blackhawk Down will support 50 players, it is hosted on the game dev's own servers.
