Hitachi V59 Problems.
« on: November 28, 2010, 09:26:00 PM »

I have searched for a solution but cant really find a definite answer. Im using windows 7 64bit, and windows does not detect the drive, I have tried port I/0 and win api.  I put the hitachi in mode b and jungle flasher says that it doesnt detect a hitachi drive. on the left side of the hitachi tab it shows the hitachi drive, but on the right where it says drive it doesnt show the hitachi.

I have tried going into device manager and scan for new hard ware, but still doesnt matter.

Firstly, are you following the JungleFlasher tutorial? If not that would be a very good place to start.
Secondly, have you booted Windows in "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" mode? If not, then JungleFlasher can not load the required drivers, and therefore will not detect your drive (see the tutoral for more information).

Hitachis are more than likely the easiest drives to flash, if you follow the tutorial you should not have any problems.

Good luck!

I have gone through the whole jf tutorial. I have used dseo to disable driver signature einforcement. I am using a via card with a maximus extractor. I have done many drives but havent had a hitachi in a long time. I will post a screen shot of jf and also my jungle flasher log.
Another funny thing is that jf says that it knows the drive key for the drive.

I was able to dump the OFW with classic dump, but not with RAM Upload. Now i need to flash it, but the only option i have to flash it with is RAM Upload which is failing.

I think i figured it out. I have to reinstall the driver for my via card and use win api. Can someone please point me in the right direction for the driver? Thanks.

Ok I was able to flash the drive. For some reason it wouldnt work connected to my via card. I had to connect it to my on board sata, and use win api. For some reason it did not give me an option to send to mode b, i think it was because i disabled via ports, but it did show up in the drive drop down list.

I haven't tested it yet, but will later on today.

I tested the drive and it is working. I am not sure why it was giving me problems, even though i followed the jungle flasher tutorial.
