Ya, and have it report as a MS25 if thats what your drive label states it is.

after about 2 hours of trying to update it I got it to work... I realized that when upgrading from 4.0 or higher you have to use an enable 0800 disc on my MS25... after I made that it worked like a charm THANK YOU ALL ESPECIALLY YOU COMMODORE4EVA

When I run Make Xtreme firmware.cmd I get an error after making my second selection. I chose A at first, and then B for my MS25 drive. THen I get "Cannot find specified program" and then hit anmy key to close, and no new firmware. I have X360SAM.EXE in the same folder along with my orig.bin. Am I missing something?

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Your sure its a good copy of your Original.BIN  file.  Try redownloading xtreme 5.3 firmware and run the program agene ?

Ok so it's been a while since 5.1

But mtkflash w /sata fw53a.bin

It then asks for Master/Slave, I choose master/

It says:

Flash Type : "SST(SSt39SF020)"
Updating....Finished! DataSum EB9D, OPCSum  0

but it only flashed one bank, shouldn't it flash 3?

-D

Thats because you didn't merge the firmware. You need to type mtkflash w /sata /m fw53a.bin

many of your guys should just check the pinned,
Also note that this thread is intented to discuss the features of Xtreme 5.3, not to resolve your specific flashing problems  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .

bill.45 you should read the stickies before making anymore posts

i think its called this because it can "repair" drives that have been flashed incorrectly, or have had floppys fail, or power surges, ect.

Thanks, I re downloaded a different version of the Xtreme 5.3, and it worked fine. I was able to select A for the firmware and then B for my MS25 drive. Checked it in FW toolbox 3.0, and it confirms. I just have to flash it now and make sure it all works. I haven't flashed since 3.0, so its been a little while, but I am sure I will figure it out again....

Hello all,

I have a samsung mS25 dvd drive. I may have to update the firmware.

The questions are..

I download the firmware but i have a bunch of them.. which one i should use?

xtrem53a, xtrem53b, xtrem53c ?

Or

53a-ms25, 53b-ms25, etc ?

What file i should use?
also what are the difference between A, B, C, etc.. what these letters means?

PS, i know this go on the newbie forum, but i tried that and no one helped.

just google it

the different letters have to do with drive speed and other small differences

i always use A  ,, never had any problems

xtrem53a .. use that one if you are unsure but use good media .. ie verbatims

???? not following you , do not see any previous post from you on that...

you would do that if you had an ms28 before and replaced it with a ms25, then you would want your ms25 to look as a ms28 to your motherboard such that you do not get an E66 error.
no sure if it helps or how it relates to xtreme5.3  biggrin.gif

It does, thanks. I was just wondering since I'm upgrading from version 3.3. wink.gif
