Why?  They have highdef support for Xbox games, but don't charge more for it.

The games will be $60 because they are higher quality and they can get away with it. Sure some may take more time/money to make but the main reason is if all three systems price their games at this price gamers will be forced to pay it and they will without contesting to it, atleast the majority of the people. I don't mind since I can normaly scrounge up an extra $10 but if they charge $70 for a new release of a hyped game like halo 3 I will be pissed.

PS3 game will probably be $60 as well to stay competitive but the profit margin would be a hair smaller because of BRD.

Really in the long run it will probably cost a few cents more to press a BRD over a standard DVD the real cost is the new equipment they have to buy to press them at all... which means they're eating a lot of cost in the begining... and if Sony looses the format battle they'll have lots of BRD machines and no BRDs to make.

I'm super sure that Blu-ray discs won't ever replace DVD

Can't you just buy a 360 out of the US and import your games? I know thats what I would do if I were oyu, me being cheap and all.

Here is a importing example for you.

Regular halo2=50 dollars

Imported halo2=80 dollars

So in the end, you would still spend more money.

I rather have all games for 50, but what can we do?
The ps1 to ps2 gaming switch still keep new games 50 bucks.

I think a lot of people are underestimating Nintendo's next gen console.

If their NES/SNES/N64 BC capabilities come completely free with the purchase of the console then it could very easily give MS and Sony a run for their money (provided the whole controller thing isn't a failure) ESPECIALLY with the older crowd. Once you get to a certain age nostalgia is one of the biggest driving forces people can use to move product. Just look at Fords new mustang, or the new Style VW Bug when it came out. They all sold heavily to the 40+ crowd and for nothing more than nostalgic styling. Heck even those "classic console in a controller" systems that go for $15-$30 have blown up and literally fly off the shelves.

Nintendo has a huge cult following from their retired consoles. Being able to deliver a complete heritage of video gaming on a single console has the potential to sell big if they play their cards right.

As for the topic at hand, price points and such
I don't think that a single price for a video game is appropriate. I think games should be priced according to their actual value.

A new sports game that is the same as last years with an updated roster... $20
If it has a huge new features or a new engine... sure charge the $60

A party game with so-so graphics no plot or story and just 50 or so mini games mostly ripped off from classics... $30

A game that delivers a deep story mode, compelling online play, and a host of challenges I could see paying $70 for.

The price you pay should be appropriate for the game.

It saddens me to see when Nintendo fell from number one to number three, they had some amazing games... About this BC for all console games, I think if they are bought online, I think Nintendo will price the game based on it's popularity and year, like 5 bucks to play Super Metroid or something, and 35 bucks to play the "new zelda game which isn't out yet," something like that I suppose.
