There are many reasons that they chose this name, but one good reason for xbox 360 is that it is searchable.  The world today finds most things on the internet using search engines.  If I want to look for the new xbox, it needs a name that makes it distinguishable from the old xbox.  I think 360 accomplished this better than other options that used common words.  Just another aspect of the name.

I hated the name xbox360, but the more and more I say it, it grows on me.  I personally think that they should have named it the xbox fuckyourcouchsonyfuckyourcouch.

Seeing as how I've seen a ton of people that think that you HAVE to have an HDTV to actually use the x360, I'm not suprised that they think people would percieve "xbox2" as being inferior to "ps3."  So it's not THAT bad of an idea.

And that whole L33t sp3@k shit is retarded... it goes in the same category as w00t... ENOUGH ALREADY! Stupid as hell, lol.

Jeez its just a name.

I think 360 is a great name, me and anyone I know just call it the "360" anyway, we dont even say Xbox beforehand.

Its a decent name. And at LEAST they thought about it for a while and did some testing.

Better than Sony just doing a +1!

Or Apple sticking a lower case "i" in the front of everything!

at first i hated the xbox360 but it has grown on me......i do think its a nice twist on how a console should be named.

Xenon i thought was cool but would be a good choice, all the hardcore gamers would know what the xenon was but for the mindless zombies in this world they would have been clueless........MS would want their next console to have a name that can be related and remembered.

xbox2 is just stupid and for a while i thought Xbox Next would have been the best choice but it was not to be

Longhorn is the codename. Likely will not be the final name...

Xbox 2 would have been generic and uninspiring as ps2 and ps3 is.
