Backups No Longer Working
« on: June 21, 2006, 11:20:00 PM »

Has anyone seen any change in the success rate of their backups booting?  I ask this because of the fallowing.

I have a 360 with a Hitachi 47D, burning with a pioneer 111d with the new firmware, on to Memorex (ritekD0101) and TDK (ricohjpndooo1).  I have to use the soft reset trick (switching the HD AV cable switch) to get them to boot.

Today, I was playing a back up of Ghost Recon when the game froze after completing the first level.  I reset the 360 and could not get the disk to boot.  I tried all my other back ups and non of them that were burned on to the Memorex media would boot.  The TDKs still booted fine.

I cant imagine what has caused this.  I doubt that it was actually ghost recon specifically that caused it.  Is it possible that the new firmware, or reading burned media, is causing the DVD drive laser to degrade over time?

Please reply only with smiler experiences and usable information.
