Yet Another Vga Problem
« on: November 29, 2007, 08:33:00 PM »

I have a brand new Toshiba Regza 42HL167 tv (1920x1080 native res). I just got the VGA cables and i have an HD-DVD player. If i try to select 1920x1080 resolution in the xbox settings my tv gives me an unuseable signal message then it changes back to 640x480. Any idea why? My tv accepts 1080p. My 360 will output 1080p. What's my problem. Thanks guys.

Check your owners manual for the resolutions that your TV accepts over VGA.  I know that when I was looking to buy TVs I specifically didn't look at the toshiba sets after I found out that they wouldn't accept native rez over VGA.  I'm not sure if your model is the same way... but I recall that it was either the 67 or 167 series that I was looking at.

If your TV doesn't accept it, there is pretty much nothing you can do except use a different type of input.

sure enough. 1024x768 max over XGA. That's really stupid. Time to get an hdmi 360. Thanks.
