No.

Now, you could get an adapter, but by converting the signal from analog to digital on the fly you'd lose any quality you could have gained.

so what is different about the new ones? just a new video card for the digital HDMI output? or did they just completely redo the entire console therefor making it impossible to upgrade an old one?  Does anybody even know this besides microsoft?

The new ones have the same GPU/CPU with a new motherboard and a different scaler. SHort of taking the internals from a newer box there is no know way to get the HDMI port. You can always sell you current xbox for around $200-$250 and just get a new one.

The scaler chip. It's digital, not analog. I suppose you could make a physical HDMI adapter, but it'd be totally useless. The difference between the 360's (relatively) new & improved VGA support and HDMI is pretty negligible anyway. Have you actually seen a side-by-side? It' ain't anything to write home about.

you guys need to lay off the Sony Coolaide  you don't NEED HDMI...

I guarantee the only difference you'd notice is the 5 extra second you have to wait for your console to boot up while it makes the "handshake" and a substantially lighter wallet.

if you've already got it, great, use it but for the most part there is no reason to use it unless

1. you've got an HDTV with a native resolution of 1920x1080 that does not accept 1080p over component or VGA
2. well there really is no other good reason...

Aside from that, HDMI is nothing more than a DRM trojan horse that helps you with cable management.

HDMI is the automotive equivalent of a tilt Steering wheel, you wouldn't exactly up and sell your car if it didn't have it now would you? If you've got it, great, use it! If not... it's really no big deal and it's more of a "nice to have" than anything else.
