Vga Problem

so i managed to get the last hd-dvd player at circuit city and the pq over component justified the 200 bucks  biggrin.gif .  i tried switching to my vga cable but i get no video at any resolution on my samsung hdtv.  tv keeps saying "not supported mode." i tested the vga cable on another 360 and it worked perfectly.  anyone out there with the same problem?
