Never in my life have I ever seen a consumer laptop with a VGA input.

if a laptop has a vga port it is more than likely only an output, dont think you be able to do it without spending lots of money

Yeah, it won't work.  The few laptops I've seen with video inputs are on ATi chipsets, and it's a composite in.

As I said, it's a composite in, which doesn't give any HD benefits at all.  It'll look worse on a laptop screen than on a television with only the yellow plug.
