964h X 544v Resolution On Hd Projector?
« on: February 22, 2006, 12:45:00 PM »

Well, I was hunting for a good deal for a projector on ebay and found a really good deal, problem is.. it says that native resolution is  964H x 544V usually I get the Native: 854x480 Pixels, Maximum: 280x1024 Pixels anyways, this is the link for the sale http://cgi.ebay.com/...1QQcmdZViewItem
I just dont understand what kind of resolution the projector displays tongue.gif

edit: just thought.. maybe they tell me that weird resolution because its 16:9 and 4:3 ratio compatible... But I still dont know if thats a good resolution or not tongue.gif

it's not a standard resolution but that's ok, lots of displays don't have standardized resolutions.

often they go a hair above what they plan on scaling too so they have room for key-stoning and other image adjustments.

So long as it "supports" 480p 720p etc you're good

though with this projectors native resolution, it's essentially 480p, so it's NOT HDTV it's EDTV (but it can accept HD and downscale it to ED). If you're ok with an EDTV projector then you can probably find a much nicer one in the same price range.

as for budge projectors that do TRUE HDTV I'd recommend the Infocus 5000 or the Sanyo Z4

for EDTV playback you'd be hard-pressed to beat an Infocus 4805

yeah good point. for that sort of money, you could get a HD one, and it will give you far better image quality
