Is the dvd player set to digital audio output? Is the reciever set to digital audio input?

my dvd recievr only has coaxial not optical. does that mean i cant do it?

There is no digital coaxial connection on the Xbox360. On the back of your reciever, are there not little plugs, hexagon shaped, sometimes with plugs in them? I find it surprising a reciever would have a coaxial connection but no optical, especially if it was made in the last 5 years.

well my surround sound system is not bad. infact it was 300 dollars. now i know thats not the bose 1000 systmes but again its not bad. the sound quality is amazing when playing dvds. now is their really no way i can hook up this 360?

I just picked up a 20 dollar optical cable from radio shack and hooked it up and works perfectly. Was talking to the guy there and he also said, a optical cable is a optical cable. Cheap or expensive, they perform the same exact way. Dont waste money on no 70 dollar one.

Thats surprising that your reciever doesnt have a optical port. I figured every reciever these days have them. You may be screwed. Good luck figuring that out.

that would convert the optical out fromt he xbox to coax! exactly what you want!

what the point of coax again? my pc outputs it from the motherboard but.....why not use regular connector

i cant use a reguler connecter since i dont have 1 on my surround sound reciever. and about the lag is this true? has any1 ever tried this adapter thing out?

converters take time to "convert" whatever it is, generally this takes time....there not telling until you try the thing for yourself and determine if the lag is neglible or not

as for surround sound having no optical wtf?

haha thats wut every1 has been saying to me. a 300 dollar system with no optical. i just had a conversation with sum1 over pm and they said that the lag will be a millisecond and not noticable.

nice.....not all converters are created equal

HENCE the video converter on composite inputs on a dlp samsung tv take about half a second to upscale...or some noticeable lag....i dont know exactly how much
