Look at how small the pixels are on your monitor in 1280x1024 resolution.
Then look at the huge pixels on your tv at 640x480.

The games will look fine, just a bit fuzzier and less detailed. They will still look next-gen, you just wont get all the xbox 360 has to offer without an hd set. Just wait it out and get one when you can afford one (I'm gonna just use a monitor, by the way).

Search the faqs in this forum for some help.

vga out
2053x1536 crt@60hz=$180

i really whish the xbox would output 768i, i played CS:S on my tv using S-video cable and 768i looked amazing compared the 480i and 520i

(most tvs support up to 1024x768i)

Why do hd monitors cost so little when hd crt tv's are so expensive? arent they basically the same thing?

Just buy the vga adpater MS is releasing for the 360 and you'll get hdtv. May not be widescreen but is still better than standard tv besides the size maybe. it'll only cost you like annother $30-$40 more.

768i is not a real resolution according to the HDTV standards.
