upscaling a downscaled image like that will do nothing more then make the image worse. i say wait for the 720p images before making any kind of assumptions, especially considering the fact that there have already been 720p images out that are jag free so i dont know where people are getting this shit from.
I meant when an image opened directly into the browser doesnt fit into its frame it is downscaled with nearest-neighbor (crude) scaling down to fit the frame, thus causing jaggies.
And some people STILL dont know when that happens nor do they know how to bring the image back up into its 1:1 resolution (hold your mouse cursor over it and then press the square box that appears to the lower right corner of the image - or press the (+) symbol in firefox). I hope IE7 adds bilinear or bicubic resizing so these people cant complain.
Most PR photos are more or less fakes, downscaled from higher resolutions to create fake supersampling, and various blurring effects applied by hand. Only when somebody with a devkit gets actual framebuffer grabs do we see the raw truth. And occationally you see shots released that are real, but thats just more due to carelessness or rarely the shots actually look good enough to not need faking (like PGR3 photo mode shots, but no actual ingame shots were ever released)
