Is that why racing games seem to look so damn good?  It's easy to make a "wax coat" on the cars but it's damn hard to make dull paint?  

I don't understand the little intricasies of graphical effects, but I certianly love it when stuff looks like it SUPPOSED to (clothing looks like cloth... etc.)  Those planes in World Airforce look amazing not because they are shiny and mapped, but because they look real.

i was waiting for m hael to start replying.  makes complete sense to what he says and ive seen it before.  the next gen will not only give dev teams the effects they need but it will be interesting to see how they use these effects to give us the photo realistic look we expect from the next gen.

oh dont mention ps2 and tech demos, mightyzim will be on your ass with a post that takes 45 minutes to type, saying they delivered and then some.

I would never expect a game that is "cross generational" to look really really good, and comparing them to Gears of War will give you a headache.

Recon 3 is an exception, but Ubi has always done that, look at Splinter Cells, xbox version rocked while pspoo and gamelube versions looked like the hemorhoid on my dogs ass.

Tech Demos are simply representives of what the company thinks that their system will achieve... news flash... not one single game ever comes close to those tech demos....

It's wrong to judge a game 6-5 months before it's release... Look at Halo....
