X-plorer Or Les Paul For Guitar Hero 3?
« on: November 14, 2007, 07:35:00 PM »

I really want GH3 but I don't know which controller would be better. I've heard some stories about the Les Paul not registering frets or the star power tilt sensor being really sensitive. But the X-Plorer is wired, though it has a neck that won't be loose or break. Which would be the better purchase?

Thanks.

i really dig the les paul.  at first i thought it wasnt registering some quick notes on hard, but i think it was just me missing them because it seemed to improve as i played more.

neck connects better and more secure than i thought it would.

and its wireless!

if you already have a xpolorer and dont plan on 2 player games, its on you, if you have neither, id say the les paul is the way to go.

les paul > x-plorer

I love the les paul, granted, I had to fix it (see my tut in this very same subforum).. but wireless guitar = awesome.

Both have annoyingly loud strum thingies though.

how does it work? i see 4 black buttons on there, is there a 5th i'm missing? also, is it setup so hitting any string acts as the strum bar? that thing looks amazing, it isn't possible to get much closer to the feel of a real guitar then that.

I have both the Les Paul and X-Plorer. The Les Paul is constructed better in every way, it has no flimsy parts but I prefer playing with the X-Plorer.. WHY? because it is slightly smaller, easier to handle and hit the noted on them expert songs. But hey, thats just me.

I personally prefer the X-Plorer. The tilt sensitivity is far too high on the Les Paul. I really don't need a cough to set off star power - I'm quite capable of doing it myself!

Although the action is better on the les paul, I can't rely on it not to activate when I want it to.

as an aactual guitarist, i prefer the les paul over the xplorer (as i have an actual les paul myself), its lighter and wireless, the plectrum switch is much nicer to use.

for both guitars, the neck needs to be longer, the buttons should be where the head is. and for me, both guitars have a too sensitive tilt sensor, as i am use to playing a real guitar with it tilted, not at a 90 degree angle
