The game is popular enough I could see them changing something about the way the disc is constructed / laid out etc to break conventional ripping tools - or build in a new form of copy protection.  It wouldn't take much for them to break the way the game is being ripped, that's all.

actually it would, as the drive and console still need to know what parts of the disc to read in order for the game to work. if they did try to change the copy protection in some way, every security sector would still have to be in the same sectors. so if you would backup the game use it, it would still work as everything would still be in the correct place
