It's not the cost that bothers me. I can totally justify $10 for 4 maps, given how much I tend to play Gears.
My real problem here is that the developer (Epic) isn't free to exercise their own business practices as they see fit. Cliffy wanted the maps free. Epic wanted the games free. M$, the big money meanie, won't LET them release the maps for free which is, IMHO, telling the gamers, "F YOU!".
My understanding is Epic was given a choice--charge gamers for the maps, or you don't get to release them. M$ would rather deprive fans of the game than give it to them for free. Remember, the only reason the 2 maps released earlier were free is because the Discovery Channel payed for them.
Like I said, I couldn't care less about the price. It's the principle that gets me steamed (the older I get, the more things like that get to me).
