Anyone Else Having Issues With Smb Music?
« on: December 13, 2003, 07:43:00 PM »

im trying to figure out if this is an SMB problem with XBMC, or a network issue.  I have my xbox connected to a hub (100baseT half duplex), which connects 2 pcs also.  i have a dedicated music server on 1 of the pcs, i have the xbox setup to play the songs thru smb, the problem is about every 10 or 15 songs a song will either pause several times and continue, or stop in mid song and jump to the next song.

i dont think its the network, because my other pc can play songs from the server, also thru smb, without ever having a problem.  and ive never seen this happen when playing songs which are on the xbox hd.

is this just a bug maybe? anyone else experience this?

I found that smb was slow and quirky, so I put on ccxstream (tutorial: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act...T&f=33&t=55413)

ccxstream is so much faster, even just browsing through directories than using smb was, and its very easy to set up.

from my xml file:

CODE

     MP3s-1 (XBMS)
     xbms://192.168.0.2:1400/mp3s-1

     MP3s-1 (XBMS)
     xbms://192.168.0.2/mp3s-1

hope that works..
and for my switches in firedaemon:

CODE
-l 192.168.0.2 -S mp3s-1=f: -S mp3s-2=g:
