bought halo 2 today and noticed on the back of the case it says hdtv 480p...why would they put that lmao...480p is standard definition

480p is actually Enhanced Definition (ED), SD is considered 480i.

You're right about the boxes saying the 480p is HDTV. HDTV starts at 720p. I think it's the boys at M$'s marketing dept getting a little carried away!

Youre noticing this just now? and why with only Halo 2? hundreds of xbox games have hdtv on them and run in 480p only.

And mark is correct, 480p is considered EDTV, Not SD.

The majority of people think 480p is infact HDTV, so.......

it is infact EDTV i had forgotten...sd/ed dont matter both look like shit....and yes i have direct tv hd tivo so i can compare the diff...480i/480p is garbage

i dont just play games in HD but also watch alot of tv

Not the majority of people here, but in general.

xbox games all supporting 480p and having HDTV stamped on packages only confused people further.

go up to 10 relatives/friends who play video games and ask them to list the resolutions for hdtv, then edtv. Hell, say 480i and they'll go "what the hell is that?" Atleast 9 of 10 will tell you to stfu and play the game.

Just because you might know doesnt mean the majority does.
