Router Wi-g And Wi-b As Bridge
« on: December 03, 2006, 01:31:00 PM »

Alright, so i have a linksys wrt54g that im using as my router currently. i have an old netgear MR814, which only supports wi-b, collecting dust. i also dont have any money to spend...

so what i want to do is use the MR814 as a bridge, but all ive read says that it cant do that. anyone know of some modifyed firmware for it to make it work as a bridge? if not, would there be a noticeable decrease in my internet quality if i turned the wrt54g into a bridge and used the wi-b as my router?

The WiFi b should not impact your internet use. It could slow down file transfers and media streaming greatly on your own network, but even if you have cable internet at 6Mbps, the WiFi b should be capable of about that speed.
