For all of you who think it is wrong to destroy someones own equipment for hacking into the firmware/hardware whatever...  Just remember Dish Network and Bell Express Vue have been doing this for years.  There had never been any repercussion for it.  As I am sure is the case here, one can fix the problem if he knew how, but most people are left with a useless brick.
