"10 Seconds Trick" With Samsung Ms28 Drives Necessary ?
« on: June 26, 2009, 11:07:00 PM »

Hello,

I am using mtkflash to read and write the firmware of samsung drives, and always needed to do the "10 seconds trick" to read/write the firmware.

Sometimes the 10 seconds, are 11.5 seconds, sometimes 18 seconds.
I sometime had to try it for about 10 times, which took a pretty long time.

Especially when I wanted to read the firmware from an already flashed samsung drive.

I have the "Maximus Xtractor", and my question is:

Is there a way to read/write the samsung drives, without the "10 seconds trick" ?

Only the tools/commands would be helpful, also links to detailed descriptions would be perfect.

Thanks a lot in advance, your help is very much appreciated.

Nothing detailed necessary, use the modern method, Dosflash.
No trick needed.

Thanks for the answer.

I am using dosflash for Benq drives, so I can use the same dosflash for Samsung drives ?

I do not have to modify dosflash, as I did with mtkflash ?

Indeed, you don't have to physically modify anything.

Why not use Jungleflasher?

I agree with prankster. When using Jungle Flasher you just press a button to unlock a samsung and that's that... easy enough I'd say.

Download link for JF is in my sig  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I like JF, but flashing a drive is a job I prefer in DOS...

Dosflash will let you read and write the MS28 without any (de)soldering, just read it, if ask to still looking for drive , yes, and PW cycle the drive, but only the drive, or 360, or whatever you're using to power the drive.

I like how the original thread starter never posted about success/failure.

Quick tip for samsung drives....        power on drive & pc... boot in dos... run dosflash    select drive... choose operation(read i assume)   ...when asked to send intro ... power off drive..  send intro... wait for a D status ...power back on drive.... voila drive ready for reading ...      THIS METHOD WORKS IF CHIPSET IS COMPATIBLE

IF NOT    get the activate.iso disk.....from http://www.justfuckinggoogleit.com/     write it on a DL(first layer)
put it in the drive... let it spin.. hit intro ..voila
