well my PC has Win98SE, an well it's a More supported Os, and I was just wondering if any1has ever been able 2 run Windows 98 on their XBOX. this question only came up when I was looking through the tuts on XBOX-Scene.com and found a Dead tut called 'Getting Windows 98 running in Gentoox under Bochs in 36 easy steps', also if no1s done it, what has stoped som1 from doing this?

It can be done, but it either has to be run under bochs (or any other dos emulator) or under Linux... then, it runs INCREDIBLY SLOW. The install process is also a big pain... it takes awhile and you must convert part of you HDD to FAT32 instead of FATX... but it is possible.

i think people want WinXP more..... Windows98SE is NOT a well supported OS anymore.... ppl are movin on.....

yes it can be done but just really slowly under a emulator in bochs

Yes, It works, Done it a few Days ago, but as Rustmonkey said, it's very slow. I've managed to run the XP Setup Disk but havn't tried installing yet.

98s not that old buddy.. ive got a p4 2.8ghz runnin windows 98 se.. and it boots in 9 seconds right to the desktop no probs... alot faster then xp on a super fast computer and runs almost anygames way easier with lower specs becuase of the ram and processor usage xp uses... <_<

It's somewhat unbelieveable that people still run an OS like 98 these days; it might be understandable for legacy games, but really, why play games from 6 years ago? Step into the future.... <_<

I could see why he would want to run Win98SE with xbox...
Windowsxp is a memory hog. 64 MB of RAM is not enough to run WindowsXP.
So running win98SE is actually a good idea!

actually if u tweak XP with some knowledge (not just TweakUI) u can make it run quite well on lesser computers .. just the other day i installed it on a p233 (ya thatz just one P ) with 64megs of ram and it runs great .. takes skill i guess :]
