I looked at it, and there was a bit too much asm for me, and my asm is not only weak but rusty.  Besides, I don't have much time because I'm a college student with other ports to do.

Eventually, I'll get it done.  Hexen is much easier.  I'll have a look at ZDOOM, I was trying JDOOM ;)

JDOOM runs like crap on my computer and I've got a Radeon 9000 Pro, 512Mb RAM, 333Mhz FSB, 1.6 Ghz AMD CPU, etc. The damn thing still has hick ups and when you load up a MOD, it is a thousand times worse.

I understand JDOOM is flashy with the GFX and all, but that is where the novelty ends. For one it is most likely not doable on the XBOX till they decide to re-write it so it does not rape resources so badly, and second, it doesn't do anything hardly at all besides look flashy, and I think we can all agree that what makes a killer game a killer game, is what you can do with it, and how it handles, not how it looks.

Besides, ZDOOM simply opens up the door to more games than any other port. It's defonatly not my favorite DOOM port, but definatly one that I'd never frown upon either. :)


P.S. ZDOOM does support Quake 2 models atm, and hi-res textures as well.

and its supposed to be part 1 of hexen
since they were going to make hexen as heretic part 2, hexen ended up being a completely new game
so now you can imagine what heretic is like  :ph34r:

maybe you can download some shareware somewhere  :ph34r:

heretic 2 is some 3rd person thing that i really don't remember  :P

Heretic 2 really wansn't a bad game, infact it was pretty cool over all, and I'd LOVE to have it on the XBOX.

But as a sequal, yes I'd say Hexen makes for a MUCH better sequal, as Heretic 2 really had nothing to do with the original, except perhaps the settings which just happened to be mid-evil-ish as well. And a strong emphasis on the ISH part, as none of the old enemys returned as I recall, the game play was drastically different. Different types of puzzles, etc.


So anyhow, ya good game, but it like the Starwars prequals, don't deserve to share the same title as the original.

i was browsing throught the heretic source code and it said that there 5 episodes to play

let see, IIRC Heritic, Hexen, Hexen II, and Heritic II were all made by raven, as quake 4 will be...

EDIT: there was an expension for hexen, but not heritic, was calld deathkings


As far as a Hexen II port... well.. ive been looking into that for the last few day, no work has begun yet, and not saying any will be done by me either. if I can figure out what I need to do then i might get something going... otherwise, ignore me

Yeah, Heretic II was a great game - I liked it much more than Hexen II. Who would've thought that a staff with a knife tied to the end of it could be such a cool weapon?
