UMMM....Xecuter didn't say he was making a CHIP only that it was SOMETHING...and any chip out soon will probably be a DVD-ROM mod to tell the xbox that inside the drive is a disc that it can play.

Could be something that you plug in between the sata cable of the dvdrom and the xbox. Intercepts particular requests and gives the xbox what its looking for.

I'd crack open my 360 if I could get it to boot homebrew

I'm just condering when I should consider buying one I may keep for live... and if it'd prolly just be alright to get a core to hack to bits

Why do you need to sit here and speculate. Just wait for one to come out and then ask questions. There is nothing you can do about it now so just wait until a chip is available.
